DC’s The Suicide Squad was released in 2016 and received lots of bad reviews from the critics. However, it’s a different story when it comes to box office as it grossed 745 million USD worldwide, besting even Batman V Superman.
As wildly successful as the movie was, a reboot is already in the works with James Gunn at the helm. And now we already have the full cast of the new Suicide Squad as tweeted by the director himself. This includes Joel Kinnaman [Rick Flag], Jai Courtney [Captain Boomerang], Margot Robbie aka Harley Quinn, and Viola Davis who played as Amanda Waller in the original movie. A few big names such as John Cena, Nathan Fillion, and Idris Elba are also in the list.
James warned the fans though to not get too attached, prompting speculations that some of these characters might not survive at the end of the movie.
We’ll just have to wait and see if his version can bring more success both critically and theatrically to Warner Bros. The rebooted Suicide Squad is slated for an August 6, 2021 release.
